EXPERT INSIGHT SHUT THE BLINDS!

-

Neil says… If you’re shooting with a DSLR with the light behind you then there’s a danger of stray light entering the camera through the viewfinder, fogging the image. This can be a particular problem when shooting in Live View, as you’re not blocking the viewfinder with your head. To prevent this, a small lever next to the eyepiece on Sarah’s D500 blocks the viewfinder with a flip-across blind. On lower-end Nikons that don’t have this inbuilt blind, you can buy a rubber cap that slots in place of the viewfinder surround, or simply cover it up with a piece of black tape.
