Add interest

Eyes up front

-

You can improve the framing of your landscapes by including foreground interest. This can be hard when composing with a telephoto lens, since it will appear to compress the scene. But for a shot taken with standard and wide-angle lenses, some foreground, like our bail of hay, can help cement the bottom third of the shot and increase the image’s sense of depth. The key is to ensure the foreground is sharp. To do this, focus a third of the way into the scene with an aperture of f/11 to f/16 to create a large enough depth of field to capture a sharp foreground, midground and background.
