What makes your halfand-halfs special? When Bill Anders put his Hasselblad up to the little window of Apollo 8, on Christmas Eve 1968, and made the picture Earthrise, it’s taken all this time to realize how powerful and important that one image is. Pictures have the ability to illuminate, to illustrate, to educate – and they have the power to convince. They have the power to open people’s eyes. So, why do these half-andhalf pictures work? They say, ‘come on in, let me show you a place that goes beyond the imagination of Lewis Carroll, goes beyond the idea of Through the Looking Glass.’
