I like to move it, move it!

Keeping your camera bag as light as possible will help prevent fatigue as you walk your route. Exactly how many lenses you carry is up to you, but we reckon you can’t go far wrong with a versatile zoom and prime. We paired our Nikon Z fc with the Z DX 16-50mm f/3.56.3 VR and Z 28mm f/2.8 (SE). The former provided an equivalent focal length of 24mm to 75mm – about as usable as it gets – while the latter provided an equivalent focal length of 42mm.

The zoom lens allowed us to deal with almost any situation we happened upon, but the prime still proved very useful. Not only are prime lenses generally faster and sharper than their zoom counterparts, but the limitation of a single focal length forces you to move around your object in search of new and interesting angles. The temptation, when using a zoom, can be to stay put and simply zoom in or out.
