Neil Freeman Remote releases
[1] Cable release remotes are the traditional way of triggering your camera without touching the shutter button. You can use this to shoot a single shot or a burst of images. Some remotes even allow you to ‘lock’ them open for shooting Bulb or Time exposures. [2] Infrared (IR) remotes, such as the Nikon ML-L3, allow you to move away from the camera so you can trigger the shutter at a distance. The downside to IR is that it can get dissipated on bright days, so may limit how far you can move. [3] Wireless/radio remotes use radio frequencies to communicate with the camera, allowing you to shoot remotely at much greater distances than IR. This is handy in situations where you may not be able to stand by your camera, such as a wildlife shoot, sports event or wedding.
