PRO KIT MACRO LENS
Adrian says… I still use my trusty Nikon AF Micro 200mm f/4d IF-ED as one of my main macro lenses. The only real downside is that it isn’t compatible with any of Nikon’s teleconverters – accessories I do use quite a lot. Otherwise it features a rock-solid metal construction, a close 0.5m minimum focus distance and a 1:1 reproduction ratio (crucial for macro photography). It also produces extremely sharp imagery; it’s just a shame it’s no longer in production. It’s a full-frame lens and its 200mm focal length is perfect for close-ups of fungus, plants or small animals. The constant f/4 aperture is also more than capable of producing a smooth, blurry background and, on Gary’s crop-sensor Nikon D7200, the lens has an effective focal length of 300mm.
