Fix distortion & perspective errors in-camera

-

Within the Retouch Menu (paintbrush icon) there are a few options that can help to improve the composition of your image in-camera caused by lens anomalies; these are Distortion Control and Perspective Control. Distortion Control can be used to correct barrel and pincushion lens distortions that might appear in your image. It is found mainly on Z-series cameras and is automatically applied when using native Z-series lenses. Most of the time the Auto setting is excellent and, if you use high-quality lenses, you shouldn’t need to use this. You also have the option of applying the Distortion Control manually, if needed. Moving the multi-controller left counteracts barrel distortion, while to the right fixes pincushion distortion. Perspective Control can be used to correct converging verticals in architectural images and is very useful for correcting composition errors in-camera. Select the image that you wish to correct and then use the left and right buttons on the multi-selector to change the horizontal perspective and the up and down buttons to change the vertical perspective.
