Keeping in trim

If you want to post an image to social media, you can use Wi-fi or Bluetooth on many Nikons to send the image to your smart device. Before you do this, you might want to change its composition. To do this, select the ‘Trim’ option found in the Retouch Menu (paintbrush icon).

Select the image

The ‘Trim’ option allows you to change both the crop and composition of your image in-camera. It creates a JPEG copy of your shot, so you can still edit the original at a later date if needed. After selecting the Trim option, scroll through your pictures with the multi-selector and choose the shot you would like to edit by pressing OK.

Crop, recompose and save

Now use the magnify and demagnify buttons to zoom in and out to emphasize your subject. You can use the multiselector to move the image area around to choose the exact composition you desire. Use the rear dial on the camera to change the aspect ratio of the composition, and when you’re happy, hit OK to save a copy of the photo.
