Profoto B10 Plus

£1895/$2195 Bigger and more powerful than the original

-

Larger and heavier than the standard Profoto B10, the ‘Plus’ edition is twice as powerful at 500Ws. As with the Honey Badger Unleashed, the battery clips into the head instead of being housed in a power-pack, but this time you can power the head from the mains as well as the battery.

The kit includes a head, stand adaptor, battery, battery charger and a padded carrying bag. The heads don’t feature a sync socket and the Profoto Air Remote TTL trigger costs an extra £359/$439. Profoto’s standard OCF Magnum Reflector costs £195/$219 extra. The components are all high quality. Rear-panel controls are simple and intuitive. TTL, high speed sync and ‘freeze’ flash modes are available, while built-in Bluetooth enables control via a companion app.

Performance

The powerful LED modelling light is useful for both video and short-range stills, and has adjustable colour temperature. Recycling speeds are pretty quick, but battery life is limited, at 200 full-power flashes. Power Output The 10-stop power range is great, with impressive maximum and minimum levels. Power isn’t diminished in ultra-short-duration Freeze mode.

?? ?? CONTROL PANEL Controls are minimal but intuitive, with a clear, illuminated menu. A heatsensing fan kicks in when using the LED modelling lamp at high brightness.
