BEST 10- STOP ND FILTER
Hoya PROND 1000 Filter£65/$75 (77mm) Tested in issue 124
WHAT WE LOVE
We’ve all seen luscious landscape shots in which waterfalls, weirs and choppy watery surfaces are delightfully smoothed to perfection with long exposures. On a sunny day, you simply can’t get the effect without using a neutral density filter with some serious stopping power. Unlike square filters and their incumbent holders, this 10-stop circular Hoya filter simply screws into the filter attachment of your lens, then you’re ready to roll. The construction and optical qualities of the filter are excellent, making it great value at this price.
WHAT’S MISSING?
A range of sizes and densities are available in Hoya’s PROND range, but some of the larger filters can be a bit pricey.
WHY UPGRADE?
You can recreate a fair range of filter effects in postprocessing programs like Photoshop, however there’s no real substitute for a goodquality ND filter.
