BEST TRAVEL TRIPOD
Peak Design Travel Tripod £329/$350 Tested in issue 126
WHAT WE LOVE
Just when we thought that all travel tripods were becoming clones with essentially the same underlying design criteria, Peak Design made us think again. The company’s first foray into the tripod market boasts a range of innovative flourishes, including a space-saving profile for its swing-up legs, an integral head, a stowable smartphone mount and quick conversion to a small tabletop tripod, thanks to easily removable lower leg sections. A range of alternative footwear is also available.
WHAT’S MISSING?
It’s no money-saver, the aluminium edition being pricey to buy and the carbon fibre option being considerably more expensive at £559/$600.
WHY UPGRADE?
Sufficiently small and lightweight to take anywhere, but with a useful maximum operating height of 152cm, it’s a highly effective yet travel-friendly tripod.
