Lighten the load

XIam pleased by Matthew’s answer to David Merrill’s question in Ask Matthew

(N-photo 132, January 2022), as I have had a similar situation and came to the same decision that Matthew proposed to Dave.

I have returned to photography following a stroke that left me unable to lift my original camera, a D800, but after a couple of years using a compact camera I progressed to a D5600. This is half the weight of the D800. I am pleased to say that I have been able to go on to a Z 7II, which is lighter and more advanced than a D800.

Matthew suggests the Z 24-200mm lens, which I went with. It is so versatile that I can use it as a fixed lens when I am out and about. It is much easier for me to be able to generalize with one lens, not only to cut down on weight but to reduce the need to change lenses, which is not so easy when your arm and wrist tend to be unpredictable!

My point is that photography is a great hobby for almost everyone, regardless of any restrictions and inconsistencies that they may have. We don’t all have to be ‘pros’, we just enjoy the challenge and hopefully the results. Andrew Corless

We’re sorry to hear about your medical woes, Andrew, but are delighted that you’ve been able to continue enjoying your hobby using Nikon’s latest lightweight, versatile, mirrorless tech.

 ?? ?? Nikon’s Z 24-200mm superzoom is a great lightweight shoot-anything companion to a Z-series camera.
