Nikon Snapbridge Sync your Nikon and phone
We show you how to connect your camera to a smart device via Nikon’s multi-functional Snapbridge app
Some photography enthusiasts have been known to give smart devices a bad rap. And while we could engage in days of discussion regarding the effects camera phones have had on the photography industry, photothemed smartphone applications have, at the very least, become a convenient resource for many photographers.
Nikon’s Snapbridge is one such example and is perhaps best described as a digital photography multi-tool. At the core of its plethora of features is its ability to pair with up to five Nikon cameras via Bluetooth. Once connected, the app provides a simple way to send photos from your camera straight to your smart device and also allows you to remotely control various camera functions including exposure settings, autofocus and the shutter button. Other useful features include saving images to Nikon’s photo storage service, Image Space, syncing with your smart device’s GPS to embed location data and downloading and transferring firmware updates. But before you can start introducing Snapbridge into your workflow, you need to connect it to your camera...
In this tutorial we’ll walk you through the connection process using our trusty Nikon D3500, so you can get back to taking photos as soon as possible. Snapbridge is free to download and use, and is available on both IOS and Android. However, it’s not available for all Nikons, so do make sure it’s compatible with your camera first.
