Capture One has launched a new version of its image-editing software, Capture One 22. The Lightroom rival unveiled that the newest version is compatible with Apple M1, M1 Pro, M1 Pro Max, MACOS Monterey, and Windows 11. New features of Capture One 22 include panorama stitching, as well as HDR merging and unique batch auto-rotate tools. For those that may be unfamiliar, Capture One editing software, originally developed by mediumformat camera maker Phase One, is highly regarded in the photographic industry and used as a premier resource for editing Raw image files with nondestructive editing. If you already have a Capture One subscription you should have access to all latest versions of the software, including Capture One 22, at no extra cost. Just download Capture One 22 and activate the software using your current license key. Until now Capture One as been offered in a full ‘all cameras’ edition – Capture One Pro – but with a much cheaper Nikon edition. However, this Nikon edition will no longer be available. So where will that leave existing users? In a good place, it seems. Capture One is keen to stress that these branded editions will carry on working as before, and that bug fixes and feature updates will continue for two years from the initial Capture One 22 launch. It is, however, offering upgrades and inducements to switch to the full Capture One Pro product either at no cost (for users of the latest ‘branded’ versions), or at reduced cost for older Nikon editions. If you’re using Capture One 22 for Nikon. On April 5 2022 you will get a free upgrade to the full Capture One Pro edition, so you’re not going to lose out. Users will get an email about how to claim their upgrades nearer to that date. If you’re using Capture One 21 or older for Nikon, you can upgrade to Capture One Pro at the same price you would pay to upgrade to the latest branded edition – this offer is available until 18 April 2022. If you are using Capture One 22 for Nikon on a subscription, you’ll carry on paying the same price you do right now for as long as you remain a subscriber.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS

With plenty of new features and fixes, plus a free upgrade from the Nikon-only edition to the full crossplatform package, it seems like a good time to be team Capture One!
