The winners are… FX Nikon Z 14-30mm f/4 S DX Tamron 10-24mm f/3.5-4.5 Di II VC HLD

Nikon, Sigma and Tamron share the FX and DX honours for landscape lenses

-

Money no object, the Z 14-24mm f/2.8 S is the best lens here. But it’s expensive and handling exotica is arguably superfluous for landscapes, as is its f/2.8 aperture. For FX format mirrorless cameras, the money is on the Nikon Z 14-30mm f/4 S. Despite costing half as much, it still delivers lush image quality and all-round performance. For FX format DSLRS, the Sigma 14-24mm f/2.8 DG HSM | A is the best buy, with superb performance at an affordable price.

For DX Nikons, the Tamron 10-24mm f/3.5-4.5 Di II VC HLD wins for image quality and performance. It’s an F-mount lens designed to be used with DSLRS, but works with Z-series mirrorless cameras via an FTZ mount adapter. The Nikon Z DX 16-50mm f/3.5-6.3 VR works well for landscapes, albeit with a limited viewing angle. The Nikon AF-P DX 10-20mm f/4.5-5.6g VR is great value for money, whereas the pricier Tokina AT-X 11-20mm f/2.8 AF Pro DX is the best buy if you want a fast f/2.8 aperture.
