Do you use a variety of backgrounds?

I do have a mixture. I use Creativity paper and I’ve got various colours, but the most popular I tend to stick with are white vinyl. You can light it and make it grey or near black. My studio can’t get dark enough to make it black, so I do have black paper and then an 80 per cent grey, but darker than that, storm grey. I also have some hand-painted backdrops and the texture is second to none, it’s gorgeous, I love using those for the details. I also have a floral backdrop, which is lovely. So I use a mixture, but the one I use the most is the white vinyl because you can light it so differently – you can do high and low key, then make it a midtone grey, especially as I get clients who just want black and white.
