Stock response
I have just received the latest May 2022 issue of your excellent magazine (N-photo
136) and read the review of the Z 24-120mm f/4 S with interest. However, I have found it is impossible to purchase this lens in the UK at the moment. Nikon UK is ‘waiting for stock’, as is every retailer in the southeast, including the specialist Nikon retailer Grays of Westminster, with whom I have been placed on their wait list.
Can you make enquiries with Nikon to establish when the UK market will be restocked with this lens, noting that Nikon have already increased the price of this lens since its initial launch price.

The Z 24-120mm is a brand-new lens that has received a huge amount of interest the world over, and as such stock is extremely limited, with retailers selling out faster than Nikon can deliver them. Pre-ordering the lens, as you have done, is the most sensible way to ensure that you’re top of the list when retailers do finally receive shipments.
It’s worth noting that, as with many things, there are worldwide supply problems and constrained distribution capacity due to the wellpublicised combination of chip shortages, production issues linked to Covid and increased shipping costs, among other aspects.
As far as we can see, the prices that most retailers are advertising the lens for is the launch price, but with demand firmly outstripping supply, prices are unlikely to drop any time soon…
