Big rush on Tata
DEMAND for the cheapest car in the world has overwhelmed the Tata factory.
About 30,000 Indians who put down their names for the Nano have cancelled their bookings because of the backlog of orders delaying production. Until recently the company held 207,000 orders for the car. But many prospective buyers, who have already waited almost 12 months, are moving to other brands.
Tata has shrugged off concerns, saying that some cancelled bookings are not unusual. The capacity of the company’s Pantnagar plant is limited but Tata plans to deliver 100,000 cars by the end of the year.
