Toy­ota fac­tory turns to so­lar

Toy­ota UK will be the first car man­u­fac­turer in Bri­tain with a large-scale so­lar panel ar­ray. The sys­tem, to be built at the com­pany’s Der­byshire plant, will have about 17,000 pan­els to sup­ply power to the fac­tory. The $A15.2 mil­lion joint-ven­ture be­tween Toy­ota UK and Bri­tish Gas aims to save up to 2000 tonnes of CO2 emis­sions an­nu­ally, while sup­ply­ing enough en­ergy to build about 7000 cars a year.
