Sitzler Pty Ltd will carry out the expansion and upgrade of the Nightcliff Renal Unit to provide a fit for purpose clinical services facility.
A Labor spokesman said the redevelopment is expected to create more than 120 jobs including 17 indigenous employees and seven apprentices.
The upgraded facility will house 28 chairs, to be relocated from the old area.
The spokesman said alongside the upgraded treatment area, works would include a new patient consultation and reception area, new staff area comprising several offices and expanded amenities, service and utility zones, upgraded parking facilities, site landscaping and improved outdoor amenities.
The project will be delivered in three stages to maintain continuous functioning of the renal clinic.
