Sit­zler to re­de­velop re­nal unit

A TER­RI­TORY con­trac­tor has been awarded the $10.5 mil­lion con­tract to re­de­velop the ex­ist­ing re­nal unit in Night­cliff.

Sit­zler Pty Ltd will carry out the ex­pan­sion and up­grade of the Night­cliff Re­nal Unit to pro­vide a fit for pur­pose clin­i­cal ser­vices fa­cil­ity.

A La­bor spokesman said the re­de­vel­op­ment is ex­pected to cre­ate more than 120 jobs in­clud­ing 17 indige­nous em­ploy­ees and seven ap­pren­tices.

The up­graded fa­cil­ity will house 28 chairs, to be re­lo­cated from the old area.

The spokesman said along­side the up­graded treat­ment area, works would in­clude a new pa­tient con­sul­ta­tion and re­cep­tion area, new staff area com­pris­ing sev­eral of­fices and ex­panded ameni­ties, ser­vice and util­ity zones, up­graded park­ing fa­cil­i­ties, site land­scap­ing and im­proved out­door ameni­ties.

The project will be de­liv­ered in three stages to main­tain con­tin­u­ous func­tion­ing of the re­nal clinic.

Safety of ex­ist­ing pa­tients, staff and vis­i­tors and the con­tin­u­ous op­er­a­tion of the fa­cil­ity has been care­fully planned.

Works will com­mence in mid-to-late No­vem­ber.
