Lawler condemns Feds

NT News - - NEWS -

THE Territory’s Environment Minister has joined her state counterparts across Victoria, Queensland, Western Australia and the ACT in condemning the Federal Government’s “deliberate inaction” on climate change.

NT Environment Minister Eva Lawler said the ministers will not agree to a joint statement on climate change until the federal minister comes up with a plan to tackle it.

“The report released by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change shows global warming is a very real threat to future generations,” she said.

“During the meeting today, Federal Minister for Environment Melissa Price only wanted the report noted but the state and territory Labor ministers called for greater action to be taken by the Federal Government. The time to act on climate change is now.”
