Car passes police at 200km/h
AN NT police vehicle was passed by a Holden sedan doing more than 200 km/h on Tiger Brennan Dr before officers began a high-speed chase.
The police officers were travelling along Tiger Brennan Dr about 3.30pm on Thursday when they say they were overtaken by a maroon Holden Caprice with NT registration plates, CC59ZM.
Police allege the car was travelling at more than 200km/h. The officers tried to stop the sedan as it turned on to Amy Johnson Dr. But the vehicle failed to stop and officers began a pursuit.
The vehicle turned on to the Stuart Highway before the driver pulled a U-turn outside the Aviation Museum and began driving back down Amy Johnson Dr through heavy traffic.
Police ended the chase for safety reasons and are searching for the driver, calling for any witnesses to come forward.
