Cash for entrepreneurs

NT News - - NEWS -

INDIGENOUS entrepreneurs in the Lingiari electorate are in line for $619,727 in Commonwealth funding as part of the Federal Government’s $5 billion community-led Indigenous Advancement Strategy.

In announcing the funding, Indigenous Affairs Minister Nigel Scullion said the money would help entrepreneurs with the ideas and energy to start a small business who were stymied by risk averse banks.

“The government has stepped in where the banks won’t lend and these grants will help remote and regional indigenous entrepreneurs move their communities from the misery of welfare and into the dignity of work,” he said.

“There are too many indigenous entrepreneurs whose business ideas have the potential to transform their communities but they just need a hand to get started.”
