ROOSTERS RUIN THE RAIDERS’ SEASON
THE Roosters have dominated the Raiders 40-16 to bring their 2021 regular-season campaign to a close on the back of a starring display from Adam Keighran.
The Raiders got off to a flyer with skipper Elliott Whitehead charging over from close range to make it 6-0 early.
Roosters flyer Daniel Tupou produced a brilliant bat-back for Adam Keighran to score, but The Bunker took it off him after replays showed he bobbled the put-down.
However, the Roosters would not be denied with winger Matt Ikuvalu scoring in the corner, but he appeared to be knocked out from the knees of Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad.
The Raiders fullback was placed on report with the Roosters given the chance at an eightpoint try.
The sideline conversion was missed but the scores were locked up.
However, the Raiders hit back through Josh Papalii to make it 12-6.
The Roosters replied with Angus Crichton crossing for his ninth try of the season to make it 12-12.
Drew Hutchison then went high for Tupou again with Keighran pouncing on a Raiders mistake to score and give the Roosters a 18-12 lead.
A strip call that went against the Raiders and gifted the Roosters two more points made it 20-12 at the break.
Keighran scored his second after halftime to give the Roosters a handy lead.
Keighran broke away for his third four minutes later to seal a hat-trick and make it 30-12.
Ben Marschke scored a late four-pointer to put the icing on the cake and end the Raiders’ season.
