DINGOES A HOWLING SUCCESS

- FLOSS ADAMS

DINGOES have appeared in vibrant colour in a mural in popular Darwin city laneway Shadforth Lane.

The ANZ building has had a bright lick of paint as part of the Darwin Street Art Festival.

Territory artist Marnie Jay said her painting ‘The Howling’ was inspired by the Top End landscape and her love of dingoes.

“It’s a bit of a mix, I’ve got the stone country escarpment and in the distance Nourlangie Rock,” she said. “My big thing is for people to be a bit nicer to our environment and our animals.”

To create awareness of dingo endangerment Marnie Jay organised two dingo pups Copper and JR to make an appearance at the mural.

“Dingoes are a separate species from dogs, I’m trying to raise awareness that they’re actually an entirely different species.

“I love dingoes,” Marnie Jay said.

Marnie Jay said anyone interested in sponsoring a dingo can find more details at dingofoundation.org.
