Brain injury funding boost


A MAJOR boost in funding is hoped to help researcher­s unlock the key to how to better support and treat Australian­s living with a traumatic brain injury.

Health Minister Greg Hunt on Friday announced the government would provide $4m in grants to medical researcher­s. The funding will support research projects to improve care for people with a traumatic brain injury as well as prevent and treat sports-related concussion.

More than 700,000 Australian­s have a brain injury.
