Mindil holds all the aces

- JOSH SPASARO

FOR a club with a transient playing base, Mindil Aces coach Daniel McCormick couldn’t be more proud of his side making a third consecutive Norzone Men’s Premier League Grand Final.

But the defending champions will not have it easy – they will face a fired-up University Azzurri side playing in its first ever title decider.

“This will be our thirdstraight grand final, but as the saying goes – it’s harder to defend them,” McCormick said.

“And the challenge for us has been the fact we’ve lost 50 to 60 per cent of our players this year with Darwin being a transient population.

“So we have to go through a bit of a rebuild every year.

“By round 10 we used 44 players just trying our different combinations.”
