1881 WILLIAM BOEING American aviation pioneer

Boeing was born in Austria and emigrated to the US in 1868, initially working as a labourer. He founded The Boeing Co in 1916. The company’s first plane was a seaplane, the Boeing Model 1.

1910 BONNIE PARKER American outlaw

Parker was one half of the famous American outlaw duo Bonnie and Clyde. Along with Clyde Barrow, they robbed banks, small stores and petrol stations. They are believed to have murdered at least nine police officers and four civilians.

1924 JIMMY CARTER American president

A democrat, Carter became the 39th President of the US and held the role from 1977 until 1981. He had previously been a Senator for Georgia and then Georgia Governor.

1930 RICHARD HARRIS

Irish actor

Harris appeared in many stage production­s and films during his celebrated career. His final role was in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.

1930 FRANK GARDNER Australian car racer

Born in Sydney, Gardner was best known for his touring car racing but was also an accomplish­ed open-wheel racer. He won the British Saloon Car Racing Championsh­ip three times and raced in nine Formula 1 championsh­ip events.

1935 JULIE ANDREWS British actor

Andrews’ career spanned more than seven decades. She made her film debut in the 1964 Walt Disney film Mary Poppins and won the Best Actress Academy Award for her performanc­e. She collected a Golden Globe for her role in The Sound of Music the following year. She was made a Disney Legend in 1991.

1956 THERESA MAY British Prime Minister

May grew up in Oxfordshir­e. She became Prime Minister in 2016 and served until 2019. She was then Home Secretary in the government of David Cameron from 2010 until 2016. As Prime Minister, she carried out Brexit negotiatio­ns with the European Union.
