Brad and Jen go to Mexico

A friendly invitation has the father-ofsix pushing for a romantic reunion!

NW - - Inside This Week -

It wasn’t Brad Pitt’s day, week, month or even his year when Angelina Jolie unexpectedly hit him with divorce papers in September. But his first wife Jennifer Aniston has reassured him she’ll be there for him – by inviting him on a trip to Mexico!

Yep, NW has learnt that in an attempt to bring her exhusband out of his rut, the Friends fave asked him to join her and hubby Justin Theroux – and a group of their nearest and dearest – for some R&R in Cabo San Lucas over Easter. Bless, Jen!

“She knows he’s had a rough time of things lately and thinks getting out of LA is exactly what he needs right now to boost his spirits,” says our insider, who’s acquainted with both stars.

“She told him if he was going to clear his head properly, he needed to get away from all the old memories of his life in LA with Ange – and there’s no better place to do that than Cabo. Besides, she knows he loves Mexico.”

But it’s hardly surprising to hear Jen extended an invite to her ex.

Since splitting from Angelina, 41, after 12 years together, Brad has been a broken man – looking gaunt and feeling low and lonely without his kids around. Enter Jen, who has been slowly rebuilding her relationship with Brad, with a source telling US People mag last month that the former golden couple have been regularly messaging each other. Of course, they’re said to have first reconnected in May last year, when Brad, 53, sent Jen flowers and a comforting note after her mum Nancy Dow passed away. “[He] reached out to send his sympathy,” a source spilled at the time. And Brad isn’t the only Pitt family member Jen’s been in contact with. She’s also been talking to his mum Jane, 77,

who’s pleaded with her former daughter-in-law to help bring Brad out of his funk.

“Jane knows Jen’s remarried, but she believes Jen and Brad were meant to be together,” an insider told NW recently.

“She’s begged Jen to take him under her wing and help him get back on his feet. She’s worried about her son.”

But while Jen’s invitation to join her in Mexico came from a place of support, our insider says Brad took her gesture as a sign she’s open to a reconciliation of the romantic kind!

“He’s been thinking long and hard about trying to win Jen back and how he could do it,” the insider claims.

“He’s had a lot of time to think about everything and realised that they really did make a great couple. He hated how things ended between them and would love another shot with her.

“Would he put it out in the open while she’s still with Justin? Maybe.

“This isn’t something new. He never really stopped loving Jen.”

Indeed, even when things were still going well with Ange, Brad made a point of telling the world how much his ex-wife still meant to him, describing her as a “dear friend of mine”.

“It is an important relationship I value greatly,” he said.

Now he’s single again and contemplating what could have been. But the holiday invite was a “light at the end of the tunnel” for Brad, says our source – and a chance to speak to Jen even more in the lead-up to Mexico.

“He told her it’d be the perfect opportunity for them to spend some time together... to really reconnect,” the insider claims.

It’s understandable that Brad’s feeling nostalgic. During their five-year marriage, he and Jen had many happy times together in the Mexican resort town, including spending New Year’s Eve 2001 there.

Some even say Brad’s the one responsible for Jen’s love affair with Mexico – she once visited five times in a year! – so it’s only natural that going back there with her is stirring up some old feelings...

But while Brad is over the moon about the getaway and reacquainting himself with some of his and Jen’s old friends, one person who isn’t thrilled to have him tag along is the man who took his place – Justin.

“He sort of gets where Jen is coming from but he can’t understand why Brad would put himself in this position,” the insider says. “Surely it’s really awkward!” But Jen told Justin that Brad was going with them – and that was that! She evenev had a trump card up her sleeve to en ensure she got her w way – the fact that Justin, 45, is still in contact with his ex Heidi Bivens, 40, who he was with for 14 years. “Jen’s accepted th that Justin still ta talks to Heidi. She finds it a little weird, but s she trusts him, s so she doesn’t r really think about it too much,” sa says the insider. ““She’s told him he should afford her the same res respect and let her hang out with Brad. If he can be ‘just friends’ with an ex, then so can she.”

Besides, Jen and Justin always go on trips with their mates – like their February trip to Cabo with Jen’s bestie Courteney Cox, 52, and her rocker boyfriend Johnny Mcdaid, 40, to celebrate Jen’s 48th birthday.

Hell, even their honeymoon in Bora Bora was a group event, with Court, Jason Bateman, 48, Jimmy Kimmel, 49, Tobey Maguire, 41, and Chelsea Handler, 42, among the close pals who joined the newlyweds!

So it’s hardly like Brad’s crashed their alone time...

“Brad’s doing his best not to pay attention to Justin,” says the insider. “He knows Jen wants him there and that’s all that matters.”

What’s that saying – three’s a crowd? Time will tell... n

Despite their 2005 divorce, Jen insists, ‘I don’t regret any of that time with Brad. I will love Brad for the rest of my life – you can’t take away good memories.’ But you can make new ones in Mexico – eh, guys?

Jen’s keeping her two favourite men right where she can see them – at her side on a seaside getaway to Cabo! BIZARRE LOVE TRIANGLE

FLASHBACK! THEIR FINAL HOLIDAY... In December 2004, Brad and Jen took their last vacay together to Anguilla in the Caribbean. But just days later on January 7, fans were in shock when the couple announced they were separating after seven years...
