Fears for shrinking Brad

Worried pals and docs weigh in amid fears the heartbreak of divorce is pushing Brad into an eating disorder

With his bulging biceps, chiselled abs and broad shoulders, Brad Pitt was once the perfect specimen of a hot Hollywood hunk.

But when he stepped out on April 15 – en route to the LA art studio where he’s thought to be spending up to 15 hours a day painting and sculpting – Brad’s worryingly skinny appearance had his friends, family and even experts fearing for his health.

“You could actually see his shoulders and ribs poking through his top,” a worried onlooker says. “He’s looking really unwell.”

In fact, Brad’s shed so much weight that we’re told the actor, 53, recently collapsed in a scary incident at his Los Feliz home.

“He’d been eating so little that he became weak [on his feet] and a staff member had to stop him from falling over,” spills a source, adding that paramedics were called to Brad’s house after the frightening health scare.

“He’s been skipping most meals and surviving on coffee.”

Unsurprisingly, US Star magazine reports that the reason for Brad’s disturbing deterioration is his ongoing divorce from Angelina Jolie, 41, with the drawn-out proceedings taking a serious toll on both his physical and mental wellbeing.

“It’s been incredibly wearying and destructive for him,” says one Star insider. “It’s not at all surprising that he [would] be collapsing under the strain.”

So how bad is it? Well, sources claim that Brad’s down to a mere 65 kilos – a dramatic dip from the healthy 85kg his 180cm frame carried in its prime.

In fact, things look so dire, his friends are convinced he’s developed an eating disorder from all the stress.

“Brad started to lose weight right after the split, which was perfectly understandable, but... he has only gotten worse as time goes by,” the insider claims. “This divorce seems to be killing him.”

Indeed, New York-based relationship expert Gilda Carle says, “A very public divorce like this one can be so devastating that people stop eating... Developing an eating disorder would not be unusual, because losing the weight is a symbol for losing his family.”

But there’s a light at the end of the tunnel for Brad – his kids.

Maddox, 15, Pax, 13, Zahara, 12, Shiloh, 10, and twins Vivienne and Knox, eight, are said to have visited Dad at his Los Feliz home for the first time in months on April 2.

It was a happy reunion for Brad and a reprieve from the lonely life he’s been leading since the split, with sources saying he’s had little company at the quiet compound apart from his domestic staff.

And since their visit, Brad’s reportedly been preparing to ramp up his bid for even more quality time with his kids – particularly in the wake of a disturbing accident in London last month involving Viv, after Ange left her with a nanny.

Radar Online shockingly claims that the youngster was slumped against a railing and couldn’t get up for 10 minutes after her minder accidentally dropped her on her head while they were out playing in the park.

The nanny, who was watching the kids while Ange was away in Switzerland on UN N duties, was also seen allowing Knox to ride illegally on the handlebars of a bike. Yikes!

“Brad was furious that Ange would leave the kids with someone so irresponsible,” says a source.

“He’s going to use this as ammunition in court.” n
