‘I DON’T KNOW WHO NASSER IS!’
Julia dishes her behind-the-scenes goss on casting I’m A Celeb... :
Julia Morris is swinging back into the South African jungle for the fifth
time to host I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!, and she’s bringing co-host Dr Chris Brown and a suitcase of sass with her.
Yep, as rumours emerge that Love Island loverat Grant Crapp and Married At First Sight star Nasser Sultan are preparing to drop into the wildlife, Julia has just one message for them – turn back around!
Here, the comedienne tells NW who’s in and who’s out for Season Five. Well, if it were up to her, anyway...
So this will be your fifth time in the South African jungle – do you and Chris feel more at home every time you go back?
We definitely get more settled every time we go back to our little bush town up in the Kruger National Park because we know it so well. We’re both from regional areas, so we are not frightened of having one shop, one supermarket and being out in this magnificent and dreamy
countryside. It definitely has a sense of homecoming for us both.
Do you and Chris stay in touch between seasons?
Our friendship is awesome. I have been literally mainlining the menopause, so I am sure for him it’s been a real treat. But I must say, he has remained the ultimate gentleman at all times – while I have, no doubt, been like a bronco that has a belt tied around its rude bits.
Who’s your most memorable contestant?
I’m A Celeb It’s really hard to pick a favourite, but I think Freddie Flintoff was my all-time fave... I just loved everything about him. I think the way he approached it, I think the way he had already dealt with his demons but was happy to share those with us. He just seemed like a guy who had been off the leash and brought it back together and I really liked seeing that up close and personal!
Who surprised you the most?
I think Laurina Fleure and Keira Maguire probably surprised me the most. I had such a fixed idea of what those girls were like because I am a huge Bachelor and Bachelor In Paradise fan, so when they first came in, I think they wanted to stir it up and make some noise. They had self-cast themselves as the bad guy, and I think the group showed d them that stirring in a group this small under these circumstances s is really not required or helpful. I think we got to see a different side de to both of those girls and that is what I do love about the format – that at any moment I can almost st hate them, then at the end of the couple of weeks I think, “You know what? I really like this person!” I like that it can change my mind, but my husband reckons ns I hate everyone until I meet them. m.
What are your thoughts on Nasser Sultan joining the cast? ?
Ouch, well then, how do you feel eel about Grant Crapp joining the jungle?
I mean, bringing the crap back into the jungle... Doesn’t it make sense?
What challenge would be your r worst nightmare?
Every single food challenge! They eat some gross things.
What’s the worst thing you’ve eaten?
I had to eat an ostrich anus us once... obviously that had nothing g to do with the show.
You’re also hosting Blind Date. Have you ever been on a blind date?
I have been blind on so many dates. I would make your head spin.
How would you encourage contestants to find love in the jungle?
Get to know somebody and maybe a kiss on the lips... but I’m sure I need to see the whole fruit and nut bar. I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! Season Five premieres 7.30pm January 13 on Ten
I had to eat an ostrich anus once... obviously not for the show
