When her partner Fred Whiston got down on one knee after just six months together, Melissa Walsh was shocked. “I’m just blown away, because I’m 54 now and I thought that I would just probably have a companion, but I’ve actually ended up having the love of my life in my fifties!” she gushes to NW. And though the blonde is taking wedding planning slow as she looks after her dad, who’s “not 100 per cent”, she and Fred are bursting with ideas for the big day. “We don’t know if we want to do a big thing or just kind of sneak away somewhere and not make a huge fuss about it,” she explains. “Or we might change our mind and pull out all the stops. It just depends! When I said to the kids, ‘I don’t want to make a big fuss,’ they’re like, ‘What are you talking about? You have to make a big fuss mum!’ They’re just so gorgeous!” They might need to make a big fuss if all her co-stars come along! “Sarah, Jo, Charlene, to be honest, I’d probably invite all of them – would that be weird?!” she giggles, before admitting she “doesn’t know” if her “exhubby” John Robertson would score an invite. “Look, it wouldn’t even worry me – he and I get on fantastic... But I guess it will depend on Fred. I wouldn’t want any of his exes at the wedding. I’ve got a very big jealous streak!”
