Reese gets messy

The star takes a tumble – and her image could be a bit dented

Poor Reese Witherspoon is licking her wounds after suffering an embarrassing stumble on her way out of Jennifer Aniston’s big birthday bash.

The actress, 42, was walking down some stairs outside Beverly Hills’ Sunset Tower Hotel in full view of photographers when she collapsed like a ton of bricks, prompting a member of the hotel staff to rush to her aid. She was up on her feet again after a moment – but the damage to her ego will take a lot longer to heal than a twisted ankle!

“Publicly she’ll probably laugh it off and say she was just tired,” sighs an insider. “But there’s no doubting she’s hugely embarrassed by this, because she’ll know everyone will be putting two and two together and assuming she was blitzed.”

Reese is celebrated by pals as being the life of the party, but that can prompt her to go large on a big night out.

“When she goes out with [her girlfriends], she likes to get a little wild,” says the source. “She’s a super fun person to have at parties, and it’s not unusual for her to be the last one on the dance floor. Jen’s party was filled with a ton of A-listers,

and Reese was far from the only one who appeared to have a few too many – but she’ll definitely be red-faced over the fact that her fall was caught on camera!”

A lot of spectators are wondering where her husband Jim Toth, 49, was, as he was definitely in attendance at the event earlier in the night, and it’s highly unusual for them to leave a party separately.

“There are a lot of eyebrows being raised over the fact that Jim left an hour or two before she did,” shares the spy. “They must have had a tough night.”

Without ih h her man present, maybe Reese was able to cut loose just that little bit more than is good for her! And it’s nice she had a good time – because the aftermath can’t have been much fun!

“You can bet that Reese will insist she finds this whole thing hilarious,” tells the informant. “But behind closed doors, she’s the kind of person who is pretty conscious of how other people see her, and is going to want to try and protect her ‘America’s sweetheart’ image.” n
