Sure, he’s the star of Top Gun, but Tom Cruise also thinks he’s top dog on the set of his latest film! “Tom was telling the crew not to talk or look at him,” wrote one person online recently, claiming to be serving aboard a ship on which Top Gun: Maverick was filming. Others chimed in, calling the A-lister “a diva” as well as “very arrogant” and “disrespectful”.

The online attacks come at a time when the editor for his 2008 film Valkyrie shared a similar story about Tom’s demeanour. “I remember sitting and weeping,” John Ottman told Deadline.com on February 18 of Tom and the other filmmakers’ constant meddling with his work.

And Tom, 56, isn’t used to getting bad press about his behaviour at work. “His reputation is everything to him – actors, extras and crew usually praise him as one of the most considerate stars in Hollywood, but that’s all changed,” a source tells In Touch, noting that some of his co-workers believe he’s simply oblivious to how his handlers instruct people to treat him.

“But there are others who say Tom can be an arrogant jerk. Maybe he just had a bad day – it happens – but this definitely isn’t good for his image.”

The star has been getting a bit of bad rap lately
