10 bathroom trends to watch

-

Black tapware. It’s smart, it’s stylish. The Adesso range from PlaceMakers includes black basin mixers, towel rails and more.

More and more smartphone users take their device into the bathroom and Kohler says this trend could soon see vanity tops that are set up for wireless charging and systems to project emails and text onto mirrors.

Customisable tapware means you can mix and match materials. The Axor Starck V mixer has a click-in removable spout with 12 finishes to choose from, including glass.

Baths and basins with a thin, fine edge are the hot look in Europe and we’re starting to see the trend emerge here, such as Bath Co’s Patinato Petite free-standing bath (pictured below).

Free of lead and heavy metal, Eco Brass is strong, has excellent corrosion resistance and, best of all, preserves water quality for drinking and bathing. Tapware in Methven’s Aio and Surface collections features Eco Brass.

From the palest hue to the darkest navy, blue tiles for the bathroom are making a comeback. The Gallery 4 collection from Bath Co has shades called Cobalt, Ocean, Ink and Duck Egg. For a sleeker look, go without handles: Blum’s Tip-On Blumotion has a push-to-open feature and integrated soft-close hardware. White tiles are still a classic choice but are now being laid in patterns such as herringbone or basketweave. You can tailor your bathroom to your preferences, with products to suit every need. Robertson Bathware’s extended height mixers, for example, are perfect for taller vessel basins. 3-D tiles make fabulous feature walls. The Lumina collection from Tile Space has a matt or gloss white finish, so the look won’t date, but the 3-D textures add interest to the space without overpowering it.
