NZ House & Garden

EDITOR’S LETTER Naomi Larkin on this month’s issue.

- NAOMI LARKIN, EDITOR

“If you’re stuck in the past, beholden to it, then your creativity is stuck there, too, because you don’t give yourself a chance to evolve,” said the late Franca Sozzani, recognised as one of the most outstanding magazine editors of our time. I chose this quote not only because I admired her inordinate talent and brave and spirited approach demonstrated during her 28 years at the helm of Vogue Italia but also because it aptly describes this refresh of NZ House & Garden in our 28th year. We have evolved and we have been creative with it but, dear reader, we have kept this treasured brand’s DNA intact.

You will find all the same inspiring, must-read stories and beautiful photography – glorious homes, gardens, food and all those extras like shopping, beauty, wine, books, art, new stores and travel that make us a true lifestyle magazine – and in the same places. The new design makes navigation clearer and showcases the content and images with the breathing space they deserve. We are proud to add our title in te reo Māori to the masthead – for a further explanation turn to page 14. We’ve listened to your feedback and increased our text size so you’ll find everything easier to read. And this issue is 16 pages thicker than usual to boost your enjoyment.

This is an opportunity to thank my wonderful NZ House & Garden team-mates along with our loyal contributors because publishing every month wouldn’t happen without this hard-working whānau. We hope you enjoy your new-look NZ House & Garden.
