Enzed Central Muscle Cars (CMC) is honoured to have been officially invited to take part in ‘The Great Race’ in 2016, thanks to four years of behind-the-scenes work by club president Dr John Elliott. Around 20 vehicles are expected to make the trip across the Tasman for the opportunity to compete against the Australian Enzed Touring Car Masters class in a non-championship round for each. Apart from the cost of transportation, one of the big hurdles is accommodation, and the cost thereof, with trackside camping at the event costing as much as AU$3K a week. Another major hurdle is timing; the vehicles need to get back from Bathurst in time for the V8 Supercars round at Pukekohe, to be held just a month later. Sadly, this means that CMC probably won’t end up with a round at the always-popular MG Car Club meet at Manfeild. We’ll bring you more info once progress has been made on trip arrangements; at this stage, a travelling committee is being formed to work out the details.
