DOCTOR’S ORDERS
As Tina is a nurse, she’s all too aware of the potential outcomes of automotive crashes, so the Bel Air had to be fitted with nothing less than retractable three-point seat belts and front headrests. The Pontiac GTO headrests were modified without drama, but the seat belts were a bit more of a head-scratcher, as the Bel Air’s two-door hardtop body provided no structural support for an upper seat-belt mount. Following profuse deliberation with the LVVTA, a solution was found in an upper seatbelt mount fixed to the inner rear quarter, with a solid seat-belt guide fixed to the altered seat back.
