The EKanoo Racing team has been grabbing headlines around the world for quite some time, shattering world drag racing records left, right, and centre. The team’s most recent accomplishment came at Bahrain International Circuit (BIC), as team pilot Khalid Mohammed ran the Lexus RC F–bodied pro-mod to a 5.379-seconds-at-278.79mph quarter-mile, smashing the world record for quickest and fastest door car. The Lexus-bodied drag car is powered by a 521ci Hemi built by Pro Line Racing fed by a pair of 94mm Precision Gen III turbos, and eighth-mile runs were consistently indicating quarters in the 5.3-seconds-at-280mph zone, which was exactly what was delivered. The record-breaking run didn’t come without drama, though, with the vehicle actually blowing a door off, followed by a parachute failing to deploy. Khalid pedalled the car to safety, meaning that the team could make the necessary repairs to keep the pro-mod in competition. To achieve milestones of both 3.5-second eighth-mile and 5.3-second quarter-mile passes is not to be taken lightly, and certainly ups the ante for the top tier of global drag racing.
