HSV’S CAMARO PRICING
Following the launch of both the Colorado SportsCat and the Chevrolet Silverado, Holden Special Vehicles (HSV) has now confirmed pricing for its new Chevrolet Camaro 2SS. HSV will be re-engineering and remanufacturing the current Chevrolet Camaro for the Australian and New Zealand markets — the first manufacturer to do so with full volume compliance. The driving force behind the Camaro 2SS is the 6.2-litre LT1 V8, featuring direct injection, variable valve timing, and active fuel management — combining efficiency with power. Speaking of which, it’s good for 455hp and 455lb·ft, and will be available only with GM’s new eight-speed automatic transmission. “This project has been over three years in the making and involved millions of dollars of investment in product development, testing, and validation. We set out with the goal of retaining the integrity of the left-hand-drive vehicle through the adoption of extensive engineering, development, and manufacturing processes. We are proud to say we believe we have achieved our goal,” said HSV’s managing director Tim Jackson. “I can’t think of another organization that is not one of the large OE manufacturers, that has challenged itself to conduct full volume compliance on a passenger vehicle. The interest and push we have had from customers and the GM faithful to bring this vehicle to market has been nothing short of exceptional.” The Chevrolet Camaro 2SS has had its RRP confirmed at $NZ104,990, with the company reporting that the first model year will be limited to just 550 units, including 38 for New Zealand. By the time you read this, the manufacture of the Chevrolet Camaro will have commenced at HSV’s new production facility in Clayton South, Victoria.
