Hybrid Heartbeat of America
It’s hard to go past an LS in a Camaro, but Damo’s is a bit more extreme than most. It’s now packing 408ci in an L98 block and is oiled by an LS7 dry-sump set-up. Inside it are a Callies long-snout Speed Pack crank, 4340 steel crank with a four-inch stroke, and Callies H-beam rods and Mahle pistons. All this is topped with LS3 heads that have been fitted with the best bits that Comp Cams had to offer, including stainless-steel valves and dual valve springs. While the intake manifold and throttle body are LS3, the fuel system uses a Tanks Inc. fuel tank with in-tank 600hp pump, along with a Corvette regulator and filter. An LS7 ECU has been used to control the whole set-up, which includes eight individual MSD coils. While it’s not been on a dyno yet, it’s fair to say that it’s making a whole lot more power than the average L98.
