DARRYL JORGENSEN — VC COMMODORE

-

Darryl Jorgensen’s tough as nails VC remained as we featured it for the next couple of years, but then things started to get serious. It was originally pulled off the road for the 308 to get a freshen up, but somehow that morphed into a turbocharged LS1 build. From there, things snowballed more, with the driveline being upgraded to a USA-built TH400 to make sure Darryl didn’t have to be gentle on it. The 16-inch Simmons wheels suited the car perfectly, so Darryl had them widened, which of course meant the car needed to be mini-tubbed, too. Over the last 10 years since we featured it, it’s not just the car that’s changed though, as Darryl’s now got two kids, so the previously-installed roll cage will now need to be removed or modified to allow the kids to enjoy the fun too. With the kids and a new house taking priority, progress on the car has been slow for the last few years, but Darryl’s dead keen to get back into it now, so we suggest you watch this space, as the changes that we’ve mentioned only scratch the surface of what he’s achieved.
