SA 35 SPECIAL EDITION
Another day, another crazy-powerful Mustang … that’s how it looks to be these days, and if that’s how it is, who are we to overlook it? The latest in 2018’s string of potent Mustangs comes courtesy of US custom house Saleen, in celebration of its 35th anniversary.
Saleen Autosport was founded in 1983 by car-mad Steve Saleen, with his race knowledge filtering through to road-going models like the 1989 Saleen SSC, based on a then-new Fox Body Mustang.
In the present, 10 of these Black Label Mustangs — codenamed ‘SA 35’ — will be made, packing 780hp and 630lb·ft from their supercharged five-litre Coyote engines. While that only represents a 10hp increase over the standard Saleen Black Label Mustang, the SA 35 is more of a special edition, hence the swag of exclusive features it comes with, including the custom badges, and exterior and interior treatment.
All that being said, there has been no indication of when it will be available, and it is entirely possible that it will be made exclusive to existing brandloyal Saleen customers.
