PUKE IS BACK
We probably don’t have to tell you that the long-anticipated trans-Tasman bubble has now arrived, and, while this has lots of implications, one many of you will be interested in is when the Supercars will make use of this and return to our shores. Despite speculation Hampton Downs would be the location, it has been announced that Pukekohe will host its 20th Supercars event on 6–7 November.
Supercars CEO Sean Seamer says, “Pukekohe holds a special place in Supercars history as the first venue to host an international championship round, which is what we will celebrate this year: 20 years since that spectacular debut. The Jason Richards Memorial Trophy, awarded to the winner of the ITM Auckland SuperSprint, is one of the most respected awards for Supercars drivers, which adds something extra to this event every year.”
Seamer also acknowledges the efforts made by the Hamptons Downs team for the Covid-cancelled 2020 event, in saying, “We are going to Pukekohe this year, but Hampton Downs is still very much on our radar.”
