ALTERED REALITY
We’ve become used to seeing once-retired drag racer Neil Robertson and family around the traps the past few years, as his son Jordan has followed in dad’s well-trodden footsteps. Natural progression and youthful enthusiasm combined with decades of racing knowledge has seen a couple of dragsters being fired down the quartermile, most recently in Top Alcohol. There are a few changes this coming season though — an engine change in the Hutt City Autoworld-sponsored dragster being just one. With Neil’s other son Jason wanting to join in on the action, the family have purchased the ex-Ron Collett and Murray ‘Buck’ Buckingham Altered. Purchased complete with a TFX Hemi and PSI blower, the decision was made to move this into the dragster, and install the KB Hemi and 14/71 blown combo originally in the dragster into the Altered. This not only gives Jason a seriously cool starting point, but gives Jordan the right gear to move closer to the pointy end of Top Alcohol.
Since being transported to the North Island, DB Race Cars have assisted with some minor alterations, such as installing new helmet bars and new body mounts to assist with the freshlymodified body.
With Jason working at Dzine Signs, and being heavily involved in the awesome wrap work on Dion Crook’s front-engined dragster, he’s currently in the throes of designing an equally as impressive scheme for the Altered. With the dragster running in Top Alcohol, and the Altered debuting in Supercharged Outlaws, it’s set to be a very busy season for the team, but we have no doubt it’ll be a successful one.
