MAKING IT HAPPEN

-

While it’s the drivers (and cars) that take all the glory, there’s a host of people behind the scenes that help to make all the fun possible. Last season that included Ian Pledger, Duane Bicknell, Alan Pearce, Dean Evans, and Greg Honnor who all did a fantastic job in their support roles for the club. At this year’s AGM it was announced that there would be some subtle changes occurring moving forward. While Ian will continue as the series coordinator, Rodney Heads will head up the tech committee, taking over from Dean Perkins, and will assist Duane and Dean. Dean is moving into this new role alongside Duane as there is an expected increase in workload being the club’s first year implementing the new rules around RPM limiters. These rules see the implementation of a 200rpm limit cut to scratch race winners. The club has always had the ability to take rpm away from cars that breakaway, but this has been difficult to implement as there are too many variables and arguments, but not any longer. This amended rule for rpm loss will take away any doubt or argument and will be applied to every scratch race winner throughout the season. This should theoretically see closer racing between the front runners. The tech committee is also expected to carry out more tech inspecting current CMC cars to ensure all still meet the club rule requirements. Alan will be staying on as driving standards bbserver while Greg will be around again helping with tyre marking and the most important role in CMC, assisting with BBQ’s.
