They targeted the homes of Hollywood stars, stealing roughly $4.2 million-plus in cash and belongings from Paris Hilton, Orlando Bloom, Rachel Bilson and many more between 2008 and 2009.

But when teens and twentysomethings Rachel Lee, Nick Prugo, Alexis Neiers, Courtney Ames and Diana Tamayo were arrested, they became household names and were dubbed the Bling Ring. Their infamous antics became the focus of a book and two movies, but it was attention not all of them wanted.

Several retreated from the spotlight, while others served time – a ‘blessing in disguise’ according to Rachel, 27. ‘As a teen, I was chasing love in all the wrong places, and by the time I realised, it was too late and I was in prison,’ she tells. ‘It made me realise you can only trust yourself.’

Alexis (whose arrest was featured on her E! series Pretty Wild) also found a silver lining in the experience – sobriety. The mum-of-two is now a counsellor at Alo House Recovery Centre in Malibu, and is committed to helping others overcome addiction.

Their co-defendants have moved on as well. ‘Nick is in a committed relationship,’ one source tells. While another says, ‘Diana is a personal trainer and happily married.’

The former Bling Ring members have put the past behind them and acknowledged their mistakes. ‘I was a drug addict who messed up her life,’ says Alexis, 27, ‘and thankfully, decided to turn it all around.’ If she could do it all over again, Rachel says, ‘I would’ve made the right choices instead of the wrong ones. I would’ve changed a lot.’

According to the members, Rachel was the mastermind behind the crime spree.

Her father’s Las Vegas home was raided by police in 2009, where almost $30,000 in jeans and photographs of hotel heiress Paris were found. ‘Prugo stated that it was Lee who would suggest a target and that he would surf the internet to learn where the celebrity lived as well as the target’s travel itinerary,’ a police search warrant stated.

Paris alone had $2.8 million in jewellery stolen in multiple break-ins, while Orlando Bloom was paid almost $1 million in restitution from Alexis after she robbed him of Rolex watches and Louis Vuitton luggage. In total, the group stole more than $4.2 million worth of possessions from A-listers.
