TIP LAY THE FOUNDATION
When matching foundation to your skin tone, test it along your jawline for the perfect fit.
‘Make-up wears differently on all areas of the face, so the trick to flawless, longer-lasting foundation is to use varying textures and shades,’ says Sydneybased hair and make-up artist Rani Shortland. ‘Just using one shade of foundation will look like a mask.’ Here are the expert’s top tips… 1 Apply primer followed by a tinted moisturiser to hydrate the skin and infuse it with colour. 2 Use a brush to apply a full-coverage foundation (half a shade lighter than your skin tone) under the eyes and T-zone area, and follow with a fine sweep above the jaw. 3 Dust loose face powder over the top. The fine matte texture will keep your skin looking sheer but polished. 4 Dust mineral powder – in a slightly warmer/ deeper shade than your natural skin tone – on your temples, back of the cheekbones and tip of the chin. This creates additional textures and definition. 5 Buff your entire face with a large powder brush. h. Voila! Perfectly polished skin.
