Talk about a hot mama! Kourtney Kardashian is in the shape of her life right now – and she’s worked very hard to get there. ‘I believe we have one life to live, and I would like to live it feeling my best,’ says the 39-year-old star, who’s mum to Mason, eight, Penelope, six, and Reign, three.

To get extra lean, clean-eating Kourtney – who limits her gluten and dairy intake and tries to follow the keto diet – sticks to three low-carb meals a day that are high in protein and healthy fats. ‘It was a really positive experience for me,’ says Kourt, who advises to check with your doctor before starting the intense eating plan. The diet shifts the body into a metabolic state called ketosis, to burn fat instead of carbs for energy. That also means ruling out sweet treats, along with those pesky hidden sugars that can often be found in processed foods. ‘When I eat sugar, I find that more cellulite appears,’ says the single mum, who’s lost a total of 8kg.

While Kourt’s clearly rocking the body confidence now, it hasn’t always been this way for the reality TV star, who admits she only began to feel comfortable about showing off her body after giving birth to her three kids. ‘Before I wouldn’t just run around in a bikini without anything [to cover up with],’ she says. ‘I do feel more comfortable and maybe it’s because I have just grown as a person.’

She also kicks butt in the workout department, often exercising with her trainer, Don Brooks, and sister Khloé. ‘I know for my body, I need [at least] four to five days a week of working out,’ says Kourtney, who alternates between cardio work (like running, jumping rope or using the stair climber) and strength training (using resistance bands, body weight or kettle bells).

Her commitment to fitness has made a huge difference in getting her the body of her dreams. ‘I never made working out a priority,’ she says, ‘but now it makes me feel so much better, mentally and physically.’

And it seems that Kourt’s enthusiasm is infectious, with Khloé revealing that she has become her go-to person for workout inspiration. ‘If you follow me on Snapchat, then you probably already

know that Kourtney is my main bitch when it comes to exercise partners,’ the 34-year-old explains. ‘She’ll try everything and do her best without complaining.’

When Kourt does feel like indulging, she enjoys whipping up comfort foods – with an added healthy twist! ‘My mum fed us a lot of processed food when we were kids, like chicken fingers, grilled cheese sandwiches and quesadillas,’ she explains. ‘I make those treats for my family, too, but I use organic cheeses and whole wheat bread and tortillas.’ Because one size doesn’t fit all, the health conscious star is also constantly searching for ways to make her diet work best for her. A couple of years ago, Kourtney banned gluten and dairy after she underwent muscle testing that showed she had sensitivities to both food groups. But now, she’s slowly reintroducing them into her diet, albeit in small amounts. ‘Lately, I’ve been less strict about avoiding gluten and dairy,’ Kourt explains. ‘I noticed my tummy would hurt when I occasionally treated myself to ice-cream or pizza, so I’ve switched things up.’ The key, the eldest Kardashian sister says, is moderation. ‘I’m trying to keep small amounts of both dairy and gluten in my system, so my body is used to it when I do have a little.’
