Recognition for P&Rs

Old Bike Australasia - - FRONT PAGE -

I thought readers may like to know that my History of P. & R. Williams (see OBA 42) has been accepted onto the NSW State Library Archives. Hooray! P. & R.’s is now an official part of the history of NSW, as it gives some sidelights on the motoring world in NSW from 1920 to 1962. I am now in the process of trying to convince the Library that my History of Williams Brothers Ltd. (the firm run by Percy and Reg’s uncles from 1905 to the 1930s) should be saved too. I didn’t have as much primary resource material for this company as I had for P. & R.’s, however there are some good facts in it, including the fact that the firm sold the NRMA its first motorcycle patrol bikes – Douglas – so here’s hoping.
